About the Coffee:

Lorenzo Ramon's parents taught him to work from a young age and never gave him the opportunity to study, but he is very entrepreneurial. Since coffee grows well in his region, Lorenzo decided it was a good bet to be able to earn a living. To ensure income, he runs a "bus" route through a difficult mountain range with a truck he bought. Lorenzo lives with his two adult children; Bielka Liseth (37) and Jose Angel (25). ANother son, Lorenzo Antonio and Lorenzo Antonio's wife Maricela, together with Lorenzo Ramon produce this lot called "Dos Lorenzos"

Conscientious Coffee:

Gold Mountain Coffee Growers is a direct trade farming group that connects farmers of high-cupping specialty coffee directly with coffee roasters. They have our own flagship coffee farm (Finca Idealista) in Nicaragua and are at origin, all the time. They export from their farms ourselves and import ourselves, shipping direct from farmers to roasteries across the world from our North American warehouse.
Their member farmers receive microcredit and larger loans as well as technical assistance. With this empowerment they increase yields, expand their farms, invest in processing equipment, and provide for their families. They work with communities on projects including running water and libraries in schools and electricity in homes. They also bought a rainforest to protect endangered species there and were given the SCAE 2016 excellence award for sustainability. These and more projects are sustained through excellent-cupping specialty coffee.

They bought a rainforest next to our flagship farm (Finca Idealista) just to protect it! They don't grow any coffee there and their security guards patrol the area to prevent deforestation. The natural pollinators and cool breeze from the forest keep adjacent coffee farms cooler, acting as an air conditioner. This lengthens beans' maturation cycles, giving them time to absorb natural sugars and organic material, which increases coffee's complexity.

They offer girls in their community free computing classes so that they can build a life skill and be empowered for their future
