About the Coffee:
Mario & Angelica's farm is called "The Miracles" (Los Milagros) because it helps their family earn a living. They not only grow coffee but also grow cabbage, carrots, lettuce, potatoes, and more. A walk through their farm helps you understand why it's called The Miracles (Los Milagros)--because it produces wonders of vegetables and coffee.
In fact, they are transitioning away from vegetables and toward greater coffee production. Their kids are Elmer Leandro and Yader Antonio. When asked why they're converting to coffee from vegetable production, they responded that "coffee farming is better for the land."
Conscientious Coffee
coffee directly with coffee roasters. We have our own flagship coffee farm (Finca Idealista) in Nicaragua and are
at origin, all the time. We export from our farms ourselves and import ourselves, shipping direct from farmers to
roasteries across the world from our North American warehouse.
they increase yields, expand their farms, invest in processing equipment, and provide for their families. We work
with communities on projects including running water and libraries in schools and electricity in homes. We also
bought a rainforest to protect endangered species there and were given the SCAE 2016 excellence award for
sustainability. These and more projects are sustained through excellent-cupping specialty coffee
We bought a rainforest next to our flagship farm (Finca Idealista) just to protect it! We don't grow any coffee there and our security guards patrol the area to prevent deforestation. The natural pollinators and cool breeze from the forest keep adjacent coffee farms cooler, acting as an air conditioner. This lengthens beans' maturation cycles, giving them time to absorb natural sugars and organic material, which increases coffee's complexity.
